Trailwalker 2012 - 100km challenge for eight of Crafted
Monday, April 16, 2012 at 12:13PM
Crafted will be taking part in one of the toughest challenges this July as we are entering two teams into Trailwalker.
Trailwalker was started by the Queens Gurkha Signals Regiment over 30 years ago as a training exercise. The idea behind it was to test the soldiers stamina and teamwork skills. The challenge is to complete a 100km (62 mile) walk across the South Downs within 30 hours. That’s a continuous 30 hours so basically no stopping.
The event is organised by Oxfam but it is run by the Gurkhas who do an incredible job at each of the 10 check points. 2 teams of 4 will be assisted by a support crew who will be at each check point to offer food, water and moral support. The support crew is vital in getting everyone through the 62 miles.
So far training has been going well with the longest training walk being 23 miles. You get to know people very well when walking long distances. Conversations get very interesting and when people are very tired they start saying the strangest things...
The teams have been formed across the whole agency so there are people from web development, project management, copy writing, account management, SEO and PPC. So far there has been mixed emotions consisting of excitement, anxiety, pain, fear and happiness. Sometime all at the same time. But Team Crafted will get through it.
The money raised goes towards Oxfam and The Gurkha Welfare Trust. Find out more on Oxfam's Trailwalker website.
